San Marcos United Becomes ALBION SC North

Youth Soccer News: San Marcos United, a well-respected youth soccer club in San Diego’s North County, will now become ALBION SC San Diego North and play under the prestigious and nationally recognized club brand.

Over the last 20 years, ALBION has become one of the most recognizable clubs in America with a well-known record for player development and placement at the collegiate and professional level.

San Marcos now gains incredible support, a strong local player development pathway, and the overall organizational platform which will allow for accelerated development of coaches and players.

The immediate differences will be felt by the entire organization.

ALBION SC is pleased to partner with San Marcos due to its strong internal structure under the leadership of their Director of Coaching, Holland Hanson and his staff.

According to Noah Gins, CEO of Southern California’s ALBION SC and NPSL’s and WPSL’s, a key factor in the decision for ALBION SC San Diego to welcome San Marcos into the affiliate program, in addition to the staff, was the strong foundation that the youth soccer club had established within their community.

Being integrated within the community and understanding the families, player needs and goals, and organization aspirations are pivotal for the development of the club,” said Gins. “San Marcos United exemplified these core values aligning with the pillars of ALBION SC: Development, Advancement. Placement.”

As San Marcos United is a relatively young club, we are beyond excited to be apart of the ALBION family,” said Hanson. “ALBION SC has placed themselves at the forefront of youth soccer with their approach and standards for the game, both on the field and with their administration, which will only enhance the foundation that we have set in place over the past few years.”

What Noah Gins and ALBION SC bring to the table elevates our current standards and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunities we will be able to afford our players, coaches, and families. ALBION not only brings us brand recognition, but also a long-standing history of striving for excellence locally here in San Diego and Nationally; both equally important,” said Hanson.

The best part of our affiliation is how we already line up with similar core values, ranging from processes for Player Development, Coaching Standards, to short term and long term plans for continued growth and programming. Our affiliation with ALBION has already increased interest in the club, both internally and externally,” said Hanson.

We are blessed to have a phenomenal group of coaches who are committed to our club philosophies and who have shown a real dedication to the game and to every player in the club.”

This transition took effect as of January 1, 2019, and San Marcos United will represent ALBION SC following the conclusion of state and national cups in the early and late spring.
